Moab, Utah

We pulled into Moab, layered on the sunscreen, ditched the truck and trailer and took the car into Arches National Park.

 Balance Rock

 The Three Gossips
Delicate Arch - also known as "Lady Bloomers" and "Cowboy Chaps"

Amanda taking a close look at the geology.
Fiery Furnace
 Landscape Arch (306 foot span)

Pine Tree Arch.  Despite a ton of sunscreen my nose started to get burned so I had to sport the bandit look.  It was really funny when some Asian tourists walked by and put their hands in the air and started laughing.
Tunnel Arch

After hiking in the hot sun all day we needed beer and food.  So, we headed to the Moab Brewery.  Come to find out it is Utah state law that beer cannot be over 3.2% alcohol.  "Near Beer"  However, the brewery just got a license to brew a beer that was 7% but it came at a premium price.

We then headed down to Hunter Canyon to a campsite that Brendan and I discovered in 2006.
Another awesome night in Hunter Canyon
The outhouse does not have a door or a roof.  It was awesome sitting on the throne under the stars.
Amanda giving a thumbs up to sunscreen

The next day we headed to Caynonlands National Park.  Or what we have been calling it "Candy Land"
 Hike out to Upheaval Dome
Desert hiking pros
We ended our day swinging by 4 Corners National Monument.  We were pissed that our parks pass (that is good for National Parks and Monuments) was not valid because we were on Navajo land.  So, they got $3 from each of us.
Notice the structure in the background.  It is set up as little booths for folks (Natives) to sell jewelry and art.
 First time in New Mexico

 Navajo sunset
We tried to stay at a casino in the Ute Reservation for $39 with $10 toward slots but they were booked. We did blow $2 on the slots.  Then we drove 12 more miles to Cortez Colorado.  Had some great Mexican food and time for bed.
