Archangel Rd

Sunday afternoon I headed into the Talkeetna Mountains to see if I could find any sheep.  I took Archangel Road and all i found were tons of people picking blueberries.  around 3pm i heard a rumble and some rocks came crashing off some of the mountains.  When i turned on the radio i found out there had been a small earthquake.
these mountains rise to over 6,000 feet and we are 30 miles from the ocean.

Alaska State Fair

On Saturday we went to the Alaska State Fair which is heald right down the road at the fairgrounds in Palmer.  this was the most people we have seen in one place all year, it was nice to see people.
Yes, they had beer gardens and wine bars.  this wine bar was in a church.  proof God loves us.
Amanda boght us tickets to see Craig Morgan.  My first "country" concert and I really enjoyed it. I really like the song "Internatioal Harvester"
 Look at that crowd
Sure was a nice place for a show.  look at that view and that weather

So, there is no gambling or lottery up here.  However, there is a mouse that chooses a color on the wheel of fortue and can bet 25 cents and get payout up to $1.00  folks loved this game.

Fishing after work

So after work on Wednesday we decided that we love to drive and after our hour commute headed to Sheep Creek which is another 45 min north.  Amanda is sporting good technique, hip boots and her new flannel.

Phinn had no idea what to think with all those fish in the river.

A Hopeful Weekend :-)

This was a nifty weekend, for sure. I got my fresh and so clean clean Harley back with it's shiny new parts and Jay and I decided we haven't seen our buds down South in a while so we made the 140 mile trek to Hope, AK. Yet another classic Jay blooper, he says "let's go help Brendan and Jessie work on their property this weekend." I think "sure, whack a couple nails slap on some paint and throw back some tastey vino, sounds fun..." until we get there and discover the weekend would entail installing a foundation in 10,000 year-old glacial sediment, i.e. lots of f-ing focks...ugh. But it's always good to see those guys so we had a blast. Plus the sun came out! soooweee!!!holler!

 New handlebars, risers and shocks...hot.

Can you count the rocks? No...you can't...but it's definitely a nice spot up on a hillside overlooking the ocean with a mountain view

The temporary living quarters while the house goes up.

Hard at work, we had to bury these things that were as tall as me...oh and I'm totally wearing my new skinny jeans but figured I'd spare you the pics LOL

 Brendan and his dad Dennis.

 The Newlyweds :-)

The drive back was pretty clear and pretty..uh..pretty

"Hey Glacier! I think you left some rocks back in Hope! Wanna go get 'em? Thanks!"....rriiiiiight....

 Amanda: "Hey, is that rain?"

 Jay: "Yes."

Pulled over to check out the lil wildlife reserve on the side of the highway. Otter!!!

 Single Rainbow...

 Double Rainbow...
Whole Rainbow. I guess we're somewhere over it...  :-)

End of a work week

This past week we saw morning temps of 33 degrees but the sun was out and it quickly got up to 77.  Sure felt like summer.  Jay worked on a 300+ drum site, got to drive some big equipment and impressed the client and the EPA criminal investigation unit.

King Crab legs were on the menu at home.  We also finished off the last of the "Cranberry 2010" thanks so much Grandma Dot.

Guess Who was in Town?

This Guy!  Karl was in Anchorage for work and we were able to meet up for a beer, a pie and a lot of laughs.
2/3 of the Westminster Wuoti Boys.
Amanda makes everyone look good, cuz she's so hot!
Bringing Karl to the airport, he had to sit in the back of the truck where the dog sits...hence the prison bars.  He was so excited to show off his briefcase..."and a tape deck and uh some Creedence tapes"  Good to see you brother.

Ketchikan from 2 weeks ago

Creek Street Ketchikan Alaska.  These are some of the oldest building in Alaska, this was the red light district to the last frontier years back.  The saying is Creek Street is where Men and Salmon go to Spawn
This sign is on the "Doll House"  an old brothel that offers tours.

So after work one day it was not raining I took a drive to the end of the road (30 miles) and took a hike along the coast in the Tongas National Forest.  It was magical.

This last pic is from Karl and Tory's back yard in Juneau.
