Memorial Day Weekend

Well Amanda had to work all weekend and the weather forecast called for rain.  So we just hung out in the Mat-Su Valley.  On Sunday Jay took a ride up Hatcher Pass to see if the road had been opened since winter and see if there were any fish in the rivers.

The Road was open but it started snowing and there were no fish.

Sunday night I met Amanda after work at out brewery.
Monday the sun was out so we got the boat loaded up and were ready for action.
Phinn enjoying the sun.

What an excellent day on the water

OMG!  Amanda caught a trout!  She screamed!  We let it go to live another day.

Great beer, too bad it is from Minnesota...it should be from NH!

When we landed on Thursday night my dad picked us up at the airport and we headed to the Dockside in Malden to eat and drink with Amanda's dad Kevin and his girlfriend Brenda.  The bonus was that Erin and Dana stopped by.
The next morning in Plymouth Jay and Dad headed to the spot to cast a few lines.  Dad landed a 24" striper.

Karl visits

The big news is Amanda left Emerald.  Couldn't be more proud or excited about what summer is going to hold without her having to work there.  Also, Karl had to work in Anchorage this past week.  We all got to spend a few dinners  eating our way around town.  Then Karl changed his flight from Friday to Sunday so he could hang out all weekend.
On Saturday we had to run around all morning.  Then we packed the boat and fishing poles and headed over to Finger Lake...and it started to pour rain.  We still launched the boat onto the water.

Then the sun came out.  We did not catch anything and my fishing pole fell out of the boat and is now on the bottom of the lake.
Some really nice property on the lake
This is a homemade floating deck with a kicker engine.  They even had lawn furniture and a grill.  They were motoring all over the lake.
We then headed over to Amanda's bar and had a rowdy night.  The next morning Amanda headed back to work and Jay drove Karl to the airport.  These are the "hung over" pictures.  We are heading to New England this weekend.  Our dear friends Dan and Kristen are getting married and we have limited time to "make the rounds"  if we don't get to see you this time we'll see you next time.  This wedding is going to be a blast.
