Last week of June

I had to head down to Ketchikan to work for the Alaska Marine Highway.  It was cold and raining (typical).  I did get to see a humpback breech 100yards away.  I also got to fly first class round trip.
The airport in Ketchikan is located on an uninhabited island, so you have to take a ferry over the the mainland.  When Sarah Palin was governor of Alaska she proposed building a bridge to the airport...hence the "bridge to nowhere"

Saturday I headed over the Eklutna Trailrace.  This is a local salmon fishing spot.  It is pretty neat, Eklutna lake is a huge glacial lake up in the Chugach Mountains.  Years ago the power company built a tunnel from the lake down to the bottom of the mountain and uses the water and gravity to power a hydroelectric power plant.  The Fishing spot is where the water comes out of the power plant.
Once Amanda got out of work we headed over the the Mug Shot and played some beer pong.

Then Amanda found herself dancing with one of the colorful characters of the Mug Shot.
