After last weekends epic tour to the wilderness we really did not want to do too much this weekend. besides my feet have not healed yet. Amanda booked a 6 course dinner at a really neat restaurant here in Wasilla. We have been looking forward to this excellent meal with wine pairings all week.
It was a cold clear night
In the basement...aka dungeon
Brie en Croute with Dried Cherries and Fresh Thyme
Good Luck Prawns and Seared Wasabi Tuna Tostada
Moroccan Sea Scallop with Apricot and Olive Israeli Couscous
Winter Greens, Poached Pears, Fresh Beets and Nut Crusted Goat Cheese with Pear and Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette
Filet Mignon, Alaskan King Crab, Asparagus
Almond Joy Cupcake, Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake, Ginger Truffle
We got back to our house at 11pm and it was -16 degrees
We went out in our driveway at midnight. There were a lot of fireworks and gunshots going off. We had our own noise makers and celebrated a wonderful 2011. We cannot wait to see the blessings 2012 has in store for us.
Amanda had got me a cigar for Christmas, it was too cold outside to finish it.
Earlier in the day on Saturday
Friday night we opened up our Homebrew ESB. It was over carbonated (we'll know for next time) but it was a decent beer and a blast to make. Amanda cooked up some Moose Kabobs on the grill in -10 degrees weather. Thanks Brendan and Jessie for the meat.
